Alyssa + Anton's Boho/Industrial-Themed Wedding at 1896 Studios in Brooklyn, NY

Alyssa + Anton's wedding at 1896 Studios in Brooklyn last summer was filled with so many incredible moments AND details. It was truly a one-of-kind celebration, complete with hand-painted portraits of every wedding guest (made by the super talented bride!), personalized hand-written vows, taco food truck & donut bar, mix-matched bridesmaid's and casual groomsmen attire, plus crazy-fun wedding party portraits around the colorful and artistic streets of Brooklyn, and a kick-ass celebration on the dance floor.

If you're looking for inspiration for an artsy/eclectic/boho/industrial-themed wedding, you've come to the right place. So grab a cup of afternoon coffee and settle in for a while!

Behind-the-scenes Set Up for the Celebration

Since I made the trip from Buffalo to Brooklyn to be there for Alyssa and Anton's wedding day, I arrived early in the morning which was great to see how their industrial warehouse space transformed into the beautiful celebration wedding space that it became. Their event coordinators, wedding party members, and mom of the bride especially were all hands on deck to help. Here a few behind-the-scenes captures before it all came together!

In closing, a tip from the couple for future brides/grooms to be:

If you're venue doesn't come with any extra furniture, decor, caterer, set up etc. consider a day of coordinator and let yourself enjoy the day. :)

Danielle + Tom's Winter Photo Session featuring the Admiral Room at the Marin

A few weeks ago I met up with past wedding clients, Danielle + Tom, for a little experimental photo session in Buffalo, NY. My wedding and portrait style of photography is very bright and cheerful and playful, but I also have a deep love for dramatic and moody images (often described as film noir), that I haven't really played around with before in portrait sessions. I think it's partially because I'm more drawn to photographing joyful and happy moments with a ton of laughter.

We met at the Admiral Room @ the Marin, a newly renovated and gorgeous building in downtown Buffalo that will soon be open for weddings and other events. It proved to be a great backdrop for what I was looking to achieve with a little bit more dramatic lighting in some areas, and the building's beautiful architectural details added interesting touches I absolutely adore. We finished their session with some photos out on the snowy streets of Buffalo.

Danielle + Tom, it was so fun to experiment with you both (and catch up!) and I am so happy with how these photos turned out – a good mixture of a little mood with lighting and still showing the love and laughter you both share. Thank you so much, and I cannot wait to see you again!
